When I click on "start database" it gave the warning "Operation failed, abhi is not a member of 'dba' group." and when clink on "Run SQL command line" it shows /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/nls_lang.sh: 114: [[: not found
Oracle is managed via a web interface, which is installed with the oracle-xe package. By default, it listens on the local address 127.0.0.1 at port 8080. Since you most likely do not have a window manager or web browser installed on your Linode, you must connect to your Oracle home page remotely.

If this is a new installed Oracle and you do not have initXE.ora parameter file here /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/dbs/, that means you need to create XE DB first. To do that run /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/createdb.sh script first.
In my case the file initXE.ora parameter file, was not at all present in the location. But in the pfile/init.ora there was entry for my DB, used the following command to start the db.My oracle db name = FIRCO62

At this point in setting up my demo environment, I am also going to use Docker. I already had a script file docker.sh for installing it, that I used when writing a previous article. From the docker-images-main.zip, I downloaded earlier from github, I extracted directory OracleDatabase\SingleInstance\dockerfiles\18.4.0 to directory C:\My\AMIS\env\oraclexedatabase\dockerfiles\18.4.0 [ -images/tree/main/OracleDatabase/SingleInstance/dockerfiles/18.4.0]
Thanks for this, at first I downloaded a linux version and it didn't work. After that I removed that version, btw I could not do it with the ubuntu software upgrade tool so did a delete java from the GUI, and downloaded the debian one. The install took place but could not find the /usr/lib/jvm with the GUI. If you use mlocate it is there. So I just passed that path when I started pl/sql dev. Now, it works....!
I have 4 Go RAM at starting oracle server it consums already 2,5 Go(1,5 Go free)Yes. Many of the Oracle initialisation parameters tell it how much RAMto allocate for shared pool, Java pool, sort areas etc. These can beeither explicit, or left to Oracle to work out, depending on yoursetting for WORKAREA_SIZE_POLICY. You also had RAM set aside for yourbuffer cache.
